Key Messages

Through our Mission Gap research, reflection and conversations, we have identified three key messages which Christians need to understand before being interested in global missions. Think of these three messages like water, sunlight and soil when it comes to growing a plant. All three are critical to the process, and if even one is missing, the plant will struggle.

Unfortunately, these key messages are sometimes missing in the minds of Jesus followers due to misunderstandings or poor communication, yet they are critical in preparing a Jesus follower to be interested in global missions.

Christian = Missionary

Don't wait for your call, it already happened.

When we said yes to following Jesus, we joined the mission He gave to His disciples over 2,000 years ago—to “go and make disciples of all nations.” That is His mission, and that was His call to all who follow Him. We are His hands and feet in the world. We are His workforce. We are His choice, and all who call Him Lord have been called to reflect His love to transform the world.

The same call was given to all, but the way we serve depends upon the spiritual gifts, passions, abilities, personalities, and experiences He has entrusted to us to use for His mission.

Your Life—All of It

This is not a short-term or part-time role.

In everything we do and say, everywhere we go and at every time of day, we are ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. Whether at home, school, work, the sport field or driving down the road, the way each of us lives, thinks, works, speaks and socialises presents a picture of what it is to be a Jesus follower. Our living example can invite conversation, open doors, and demonstrate what life is like when it is centred on God’s love.

First Priority: All Nations

Many have not heard, many more have not seen.

If our call is to “go and make disciples of all nations,” then our mission continues until all nations have been reached. As a first priority, we focus on those peoples and communities who have never heard of the love of Christ, and then on those who may have heard but don’t have access to a vibrant community of Jesus followers where they can see Christ’s love each day.

We live and breathe to seek out the people and communities who don't know God's love. We are passionate about making an introduction, and providing active, ongoing discipleship.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 1:8 (NIV)
